Hello,

Assuming you are using SSMS, then look at the tool bar right below the menus. On the far right hand side is the icon for the activity monitor. It is only visible if there is a query window visible, so that might have been why you could not find it.

I am a developer so I can afford to be a musician.

I hate SSMS 2008's Activity Monitor! I refuse to use it. I'll either use sp_who2 or write my own query via master..sysprocesses. SSMS 2005's Activity Monitor was good. I did use it sometimes, but I'd still go to sp_who2/sysprocesses for further digging.

Here's my most frequent query:
select * from master..sysprocesses where blocked <> 0

Does sifu mean master/teacher/instructor? I had to google it. It was too close to STFU, which is derogatory, so I had to look it up.

2008 activity monitor was in response to oracle's version of the same thing I think. I agree it sucks.

far better than sp_who2 is Adam Machanic's sp_whoisactive, I have it on all my servers. it's awesome.
