| Very new to sql. Have a sql 2005 server with 4 instances. Trying to connect remotely to a specific instance from the internet. I set the instance up with a static port. Configured the router/firewall to have the specific port opened. Also opened udp 1434 to the sql server.I cannot connect from the internet.Is there a specific way to test my connection from the internet to the sql instance? |

We can't see what you have tried so far...Do you know how to connect to an additional instance?DefaultInstanceName\additionalInstanceName

| During my most recent attempt to connect, I installed SQL Server Management Studio express on a remote laptop. Put in my outside router address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx,1500 and was able to connect to the specific sql instance. |
