                                            | I keep getting this on multiple SQL Servers. All my SQL Servers are 2008, either 32 or 64 bit, and I'm logged in as a local admin. Nothing shows up in the event logs, and Profiler works fine:Files to process: 2 ( 5.4 MB )************************************************************Processing: Trace_20101027.trc************************************************************Error intializing the SMO trace reader object for C:\Users\Brent Ozar\Desktop\Trace_20101027.trc (Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.)You can visit the support forum at http://www.sqlteam.com/forums/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=27Done. | |

                                          | Ooo - and if I downgrade to 34, I get:Files to process: 2 ( 5.4 MB )************************************************************Processing: Trace_20101027.trc************************************************************Trace File Read Error in C:\Users\Brent Ozar\Desktop\Trace_20101027.trc (Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.)You can visit the support forum at http://www.sqlteam.com/forums/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=27Done.These are valid trace files (from multiple servers) that open fine in Profiler. |

                                          | I had this same issue working on a Windows 2008 R2 x64 server using SQL 2008.When I moved the traces and cleartrace to another server (also windows 2008 R2) and configuredit to use the first server as a database server everything went smoothly. Thanks for the great tool developers. |
