Dear all

I am using SQL SERVER 2000 for preserving my business data,
Last few days I saw some exception with my database.

1. the mdf file size of my database was 4.2GB in few days ago but with in few hours it grown up to 7.31GB. This is quite impossible for my database because it takes two years to build up 4.2GB and there are not any changes made in database that cause database grown up to 7.31 with in few hours!!!

2. I am taking full backup and generally backup size is 1 GB but sometimes it shows 4/5GB. When this situation arrives I just wait for few minutes and then take again full backup and problem solve automatically.

I don’t have any idea that why database is acting like that!
Will those cause any problem in database?
Please describe & advice me what to do?

Regards
Shohan

Would you be able to post some information about the application? Are there any processes using temporary tables within the database itself?

Is there a maintenance plan in place to rebuild the indexes? I believe in 2000, it would say "optimizations" in the job name.

What does the free space show inside the files? You can view the information by checking the taskpad view (I think that's what it is called in 2000 in EM).
