microsoft sql server error 18456 Level 14, State 1

Hello All,

I have created a "SQL Server Authentication" login for my dev and production SQL Server. That account is able to login on the dev SQL Server successfully but not the production SQL Server.
I have verified that the following are enabled on the production SQL Server:
- Shared memory
- Named Pipes
- TCP/IP

The error I'm getting when trying to login is:

Error Number: 18456
Severity: 14
State: 1
Line Number: 65536

Does anyone know what need to be verified on my production server?

Is the Prod server in Mixed Mode authentication?

Chad,

The Server authentication mode is set to "Windows Authentication mode", I would need to set it to "SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode", correct?
