| Hi,I'm new to SQL Server and I'm trying to establish a link to some text files via Server Management Studio for the first time. I have tried just about every permutation of inputs I can think of but I still get the same error;Cannot initialise the data source object of OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" for linked server "server_name",OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4,0" for linked server "server_name" returned message "Unspecified Error". (Microsoft SQL Server, Error; 7303)Can anybody give me a clue? Also, I'm not entirely sure whether an Excel.csv file is treated as a text file or an excel file? Thanks in advance...Leamas |

Hi,These files are bringing in fresh data, once per min 12hrs a day. Firstly I wanted to query the files in SQL via SQL server, secondly I need to replicate and sychronise the files elsewhere and finally I need to merge them with other files. It seemed the easiest way to do this was to add them as a linked server?M |
