Hi,
First i would like to introduce myself i am Ehsan and just new to sql server i have few questions
1. i have two computers one is desktop and one is laptop bot running windows 7
2. i want to make my desktop a server with all the database files on it
3.i want to work on laptop and get access from the desktop

Please do not mind to answer these questions or if i can get help step by step it would be more better.

Actualy my question is that i have a datbase file on desktop and i want to connect my laptop to desktop to get access the databse,
How can i do.
I am also asking about the installation sql server i want to install in such a way that if i am working on my laptop than i can access the sql server from desktop may i do not know how to explain because i am new sql server but i hope u understood my problem.

1. What application are you going to use to connect to the remote server?
2. There's nothing different in the installation. What are you going to use as the application?

Actually i am learning SQL Server 2008 Standard Version but all my database is kept on Desktop i want to know that how can i connect from laptop to desktop please solve this because where i am working i have the same situation.

I still don't understand what problem you are having. Is Management Studio not working between the two computers?

Hi Kulfi
Just install the express edition in your laptop with management studio
then open your sql server management studio
in your connect to server window select server type database engine
then type the ip of your desktop then user/pasword/database to connect

Now you are in your desire database.

Yes i am doing Mr. Kazi but i can not connect realy i do not know why please can u tell me what are the parameters neccasary for this connection. i am using sql server 2008 express edition

What does "i can not connect" mean? Are you getting an error message? If so, what does it say *exactly*?

"i do not know why" - We don't either, until you tell us what's failing. Exact error text would be a terrific starting place.

Did you install SQL with mixed-mode authentication? If so, try the sa login.
