| Would like to know when sql and asp.net (C#) combination is used. either to use a view or dataset, which one is better from the sql server memory useage point. |

| Since views are built on top of data tables, which are outside of SQL server, it would not have an impact on memory usage one way or the other. Even within your application layer, whether you use a datatable or dataview should not affect memory consumption. There are cases where you will be required to use dataview - for example if you need to filter or sort, or if you need to present multiple views of your data etc. If you are using LINQ to Dataset, you would most likely want to create views - see here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb552413.aspxedit: assuming, of course, you were asking about the .Net objects |

dataset is a memory pig. if you have lots of rows, better to use SqlDataReader to fetch them. elsasoft.org |
