What kind of computer to buy?

PC or Mac?

Desktop or Laptop

Mac would be easy to buy...

What's a good PC?

It really depends on your kid's preference. Macs are very popular these days. They will cost you about double what a PC would, but it can be worth it.

If you're willing to spend $1000, I'd recommend a Macbook. They'll probably want something portable anyway. If they really need Windows on it they can dual-boot or use a VM.

he says he wants a pc...I think there's more gaming...last thing I want..

Oh, my 15 year old daughter (going on 25), is now hooked on the show "Greek" on Netflix..gag..gag...

The boy said he can do more with a PC...I was like...huh? You going into database design?

He wants to be a teacher..History no less

You might check with the school, some schools have recommended/required laptop specs.

They used to have a program where you bought the laptop/desktop from them and they would repair it for free...alas...no more..

I always wanted a tablet that you took notes on, and have it tranfer to a text file...

There's software for the iPad that does that, it does some handwriting recognition.
