Hi,

Recently at the workplace there is a new server created for the development environment.

When I run this particular query on the old Development server the query retrieves results in 47 seconds whereas on the new server when I run the same query, it takes too long to retrieve results back - 05:55 almost 6 minutes. The query I am running is just pulling 652 rows from the 1742047 records.

There is same data on both the environments with exactly same data table structures.

I need some guidance as to what steps should I take to ensure the query runs optimally on the new server? What could be the possible resons for the query running so slow despite everything remaining the same ?

Please advice.

Thank you,

Dp

Possible reasons are practically unlimited, there is processor speed, RAM, bandwidth, you name it. Are these both hosted in the same place? Or is one server locally hosted while the other is on the other side of the planet? Does you query use linked servers? There are just so many possibilities.

Hey, it compiles.

look for same indexing.

No, you're never too old to Yak'n'Roll if you're too young to die.
