Hi i have an app that will allow a user to get documents from the document server. I have allowed the user to ask for multi docs by date or doc num. i therefore need to check on the server that the customerid matches. the uniqueness is not just customer id but a combo of customerid and company.
document server: company: varchar 20
customerid: varchar 80

the app server: customerid: FK int not null 4
company: PK FK char(50) not null

we take the document id where? how do I make the correct sql here for company and customerid's?

You need to provide the date/doc num and company and customer id from the front end (probably) then use those to retrieve the document IDs.

The details depend on the strcture of your databases.

Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
SSIS can be used in a similar way.
