| Hi All,Can any body tell me regarding INdex in SQL server 2005 management studio.I want archive some Data from table.Then I need to drop the index,delete the data and recreate the index.Is this correct,,..??If so can you let me know the process please..!!!Thanks in advance. |

| Find out the name of the sql server - and obtain the logon credentials. I'm not really the index guru here... but I'll take a stab.Two things:- If you are deleting alot of records, the overhead of trying to maintain the index while the delete is processed can slow the process- Also, if you are deleting alot of records, the likely hood of an index becoming VERY fragmented is relatively high, so the index would need to be defrag'd or rebuilt to make it efficient and useful againCorey I Has Returned!! |
