Hello,
I've read a lot of forums and documents about the description of different sql server versions. But I am still not 100% certain on the following: All I need is to create a small backend that I want to publish on cheap sql server host and then connect my front end to it, Can I do it with SQL Server Express edition? (somewhere I read that it works only with local databases).
Sorry if it's obvious for some, but I'm very new to SQL Server and really really want to try it out! Thanks!!!

Whether or not you can use SQL Express edition is dependent upon your database requirements. Have you verified that Express edition meets your requirements?

Yes hosting providers offer Express edition for the backend. Express certainly does not need to be local.

Thanks for your reply. The biggest draw backs that I have noticed were 1GB of storage, use of a single processor and absence some of the tools. Considering that I'm just looking to have a small structure with 10 or so tables I think Express edition has all i need. With the verification that I can publish it with no limitations, I think i'm good to go! Thanks again.
