| An SQL Server instance is a complete SQL server and you can install multiple instances on a server . An SQL Server instance has its own copy of the server files, databases and security credentialsOnly 1 default instance is possible on a serverThe idea of maintaining - Dev,Test , Prod environments is to develop, test and have a Production copy. To install a SQL Server instance - check SQL Server Book online - Jack Vamvas--------------------http://www.sqlserver-dba.com |
