Hi Guys,

We have SQL 2008 and do not have Visual Studio 2005 0r 2008 installed in our servers... to create packages and execute in our production environments, do we need to install Visual Studio 2008 or 2005 in the server as well? Or we have to install in our desktops only?

I checked the server and my desktop - Intragration Service is installed (it has Data Profiler View and Execute Package Utility). I have Visual Studio 2010 installed and I think I need to install Visual Studio 2008 as well for SSIS...

How does it work guys.. please suggest...

Thanks,
Laura.

no need of visual studio in server. visual studio is required only for designing/editing packages so having them in desktops is enough so far as you dont want to debug/design packages from server.
Installing visual studio alone is not enough. you need to also make sure business intelligence type projects component is installed in it.
