Hi,

I have an application I developed in .Net and connecting to SQL Server 2005, the application unzips files and updates tables in the database in SQL server.

I had the application on my harddisk and run the application and it worked fine.. Tried a number of times and satisfactory results.

Now, I published the application and launched it to the server then used the following guidelines as to the blog below to setup an SSIS package reading the executable file..

http://sqlserversolutions.blogspot.com/2008/10/zip-and-unzip-files-in-folder.html

The problem is on this SSIS the process after executing the executable file is not terminated or there is a process still running..

This is because when I execute the SSIS for the firs time then it unzips the file and updates the tables on the database successfully..

The second time I execute the application I receive the error
" Microsoft. Net Framework
Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you clikc Continue, the application will ignore and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

The process cannot access the file 'G:\ZippingUtility\ZippedFolders\test1.zip' because it is being used by another process'

No one is in the Server except me, no one is using the database except me.. This application works fine on its own ONLY when I use the procedure to set the SSIS I receive the error..

Any help please

are you clearing out variables etc values from your application once you've used it? do you have any variables created in ssis for holding filepath?

Yes I do have one variable - How can I clear it?

Or even more easily done maybe,

I have a setup.exe (published application)...
Is it possible to set a scheduler to execute this application daily instead of using the package ot you reckon the SSIS is much better to be set as a scheduler ofcourse when the variable is cleared?

no need to use ssis just for scheduling sake
you can call application via t-sql step using xp_cmdshell extended proc
you can add a sql agent job which calls the t-sql step and schedule it to be executed periodically as per your schedule
