| LSOLOKI writes "Hi, we are having a problem with licensing issue that I was hoping you could advise on. Our company has SQL Server 7 Standard edition that run on Win NT server. The original configuration was setup as per server and had 10 client licenses. Because of user connectivity issues we recently purchase added 20 additional licenses. We subsequently added 20 to our server count through the licensing manager by using the +/- button. The issue: We are still user connectivity issue. Users are getting the error message " Unable to connect to server \\x[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]login failed. The maximum simutaneous user count of 10 licenses for this 'Standard Edition' has been exceed. Additional licenses should be obtained and installed or you should upgrade to a full edition. We are not sure where the error resides. Do we have perform any additional steps beyond what we did in licensing manager? Shouldn't the error message say "simutaneous user count of 30"Thanks." |

| I think Jeff is right. You need to cycle SQL Server. If you did do that, and you still have the problem, is there any chance you have (Or had at one time) a "Not For Resale" version of SQL or Windows NT installed? If you did, even if you purchase the full version you can't upgrade, you have to do a reinstall.-Chadhttp://www.clrsoft.comSoftware built for the Common Language Runtime. |
