Greetings all,

I've recently moved to SQL Server and can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong.

I installed SQL Server 2008 on my PC (Windows XP SP2), installed Management Studio to create the tables, linked it to both MS Access and Visual Studio and it has worked like a charm.

Now, I'm using the same settings and trying to connect to it from another PC over LAN and am getting either connection timeout or server not found/access denied.

What I've done, enabled TCP/IP, used mixed authentication modes (both Windows & SQL) and using the "sa" account to log in.

What could I be missing?

Sam

I thought there were zero replies to my thread as I got no emails sent to me, guess I still need to get used to this forum platform.

I checked Windows Firewall and it seemed like it was the source of the problem, I gave sqlservr an exception from C:\Programfiles... and it worked perfect! Thank you all for your responses
