Any checklist that I can take a look and create a process for retiring the DB? Thanks!

Are you asking for how to check if it's in use? When we know a database is not in use, we simply back it up one last time, save the backup to tape, and then drop the database. If I don't know if it's in use or not, I will run a trace or disable the logins and then wait. If I don't see any evidence of it being in use still, then I take it offline for a couple of weeks. After that, I then follow the same backup/tape/drop process as before.

Does that help? If not, please let us know by making your issue more clear.
