I have limited space so every morning I go the my 3 sql servers (2-2005, 1-2008), zip up last night's backups and store them on a SAN. Is there anyway of automating this task within sql or with a 3rd party software?10Dawg |

WinZip provide a command line version. There is also PKZIP which was always a command-line version. Just make sure you disable the errors messages which pause for you to press ENTER before it will exit! and use >>x:\SomePath\MyErrorFile.XXX to log all output for diagnostic purposes. If you use the MOVE operator then the original file will be deleted after successful ZIP. |
