| I have various levels of distaster recovery in place on my SQL Server, including regular backups to tape and live backups via SQL Server virtual device to a separate drive on my server. I have a spare machine gathering dust -- a newer DELL workstation -- that I'd like to use to "mirror" my "live" server. The idea would be that if my "live" server melted down, the mirror would just pick up where it left off and users would not know the difference (or would suffer only minimal downtime headaches).Is this type of setup possible with SQL Server 7.0 running on WIN 2K, standard MS products across the board? Any links or resources you all could recommend so I could learn would be great.Thanks. |

| We tested a product called Octupus at my last job. It worked pretty well for us. We never implemented it because there weren't enough resources to work on it though. I would suggest writing a log shipping job though for this. A lot of people have done it already so you might be able to find code out there.
