Yes I have a problem with unneeded rudeness by your earlier post. This is a forum for 'new to sql server programming'. Perhaps think about that.People come from other systems where they could do that in the query language. Yes I have a problem with your negativity and wasting my time. You don't have an answer then don't post anything that is all you have to do.quote: Originally posted by X002548

| You need a thicker skin...And you don't get it..about the Jersey thing...In any case..sorry if I ruffled your feathers in the past...you post a very simple question, AND I answered it truthfullyI don't need no stinkin badges..umm tools to debug codeIt seems that you are the guilty one here of lashing outI don't care, if you have a problem why don't ask what the real problem isIf you want a debugger, YOU Could have Google the damn thingBUT The point IS, you DON't NEED ONEIf you try to listen and learn..if not from me, then from everyone else hereWhy don't you ask them, "How many people use a Sproc debigger?"And seriously, I apologize if I hurt yor feelings..don't interpret my playfulness or non-sequitars as being mocking or hurtful..they are just random drivalBrett8-)Hint: Want your questions answered fast? Perhaps think about this:Your original question was asinine.Your question:"can you debug a stored procedure?"Well the answer to that is only either "yes" or "no", although I might assume that you wanted to know "How to".Brett answered "Yes". He's like that ...But you then said "Oh you are from New Jersey, that explains."So ... the "rudeness fault" starts with you.Either you can explain the problem that you are trying to solve in enough detail for people to help you, or you can't be bothered. If you can't be bothered some people may try to anticipate your actual question - the upshot of that is that they will frequently find they wasted their time answering the wrong question, and they will get fed up and stop answering vague / asinine questions, and/or avoid answering any questions from such people. The advice here is free, spend YOUR time carefully describing your problem in enough detail for people to be able to give you some sensible advice, or don't expect any useful replies. |

| Thank you Visakh. ALot of you may not know that on other systems,it is possible to debug the query right in the query so that was all I was asking. Perhaps my mistake was in mixing my background of the 2 systems, where probably 99% here have never even heard of CL (Control Language). In the past 3 years I have asked many questions, most of them are on target (for a newbie). it is not a crime to be still on the status of a newcomer, when one is ultra busy with production work. I do apologize for stepping out of line on this thread, it is rare for me. I do see the humor in the posts now, but at the time, I was under tremendous pressure as something needs to be deployed to customers and I am holding it up with a sp that doesnt compile. Please understand the pressures some people are under. |

Did you ever get it to compile? Your fastest way would have been to post the sproc with the error you are getting. DO that still if you still can't get it to compile.Brett8-)Hint: Want your questions answered fast?
