Hi all,I have what I think is a SQL Server 2000 instance on a newly-discovered server. The folder name under \Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server is .... \MSSQL$MICROSOFTBCMI'm trying to connect vai Management Studio but I cannot guess the name of the instance. If this is actaully SS 2000, does "MSSQL$MICROSOFTBCM"reflect the instance name? Thanks, John |

If it's SQL 2000:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\InstalledInstancesIf it's > SQL 2000:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\Instance Names\ |

Usually : MSSQL$MICROSOFTBCM is the service name , and you'd connect using "SERVER_NAME\MICROSOFTBCM"Jack Vamvas--------------------http://www.sqlserver-dba.com |
