Hi,

While I am trying to connect to MYSQL 2005 through a remote machine, I am getting Named pipes error 40 - could not open a connection to sql server.

I have checked these many things so far:

1) The credentials I am passing are correct
2)The IP address and port of the server are also correct
3)Checked the Surface Area Configuration Utility of client and TCP/IP was already enabled there.

Not sure what else I can try to get this sorted. Any Help!!!
Not sure what

Ohhh... Just saw I cannot telnet to the server from this remote computer.

But I have correct Ip and port for the server....

I did used to connect to this server from a different remote computer earlier, and it worked at that time for me.

Dont know what I am missing this time...

Did you check the firewall ? Maybe the firewall is blocking the port.
