Hi Folks,

I have an online sql database file I have downloaded to my computer.

How can I run this file on my computer?

you need to open the management studio, connect to server, right click on databases and select restore database, then select option from device and browse to file on your computer and click ok. it should attach the db to server and on refreshing you should be able to explore it.

Thank you. I don't have management studio. What's the best way to get it? I see Microsoft makes it -- Management Studio Express -- is that the one I want?

Sorry ,I thought that the correct is using attache DB instead of restore one ,is it correct?

But you need also to change the permission of the folder you download in to add the network service users full control

it depends on what file you have in hand
if its .bak file you need to do a restore whereas if its .mdf file you need to do attach
