Hello, I am looking for a system to install SQL Server 2005 and Visual Studio 2008 on. I found an HP workstation that has: Windows XP Professional 32Bit OS, processor: (qty=2) Intel Xeon 64-Bit CPU: 3.6GHz, 2MB Cache, 800MHz FSB, hard drive: (qty= 1) 80GB SATA 7.2K RPM hard drive, memory: 4GB (4x1GB) DDR2 PC2-3200R 400MHz RAM.

Does this sound like a workstation that will run it? Anything else I should be looking at?

Thanks!

Why are you looking at a system with Windows XP Professional? You should be looking at Windows 7 now.

Other than that, what are you going to use the system for? If this is just for development then it should be fine - if you want to do something more than that - then it depends on what that is.

Hello, Thanks! Well I bought the machine ... I am using it for personal study mostly, to pass the MS SQL exams. I bought XP because the software I have is 2005/2008. I might have to upgrade though, hopefully I can pass the exams before they expire.

Anyway, thank you!

Well, it will work for that purpose - no problems. You won't be able to upgrade to Windows 7 though - it is not a supported upgrade path from XP.

Good luck.
