What you should really be asking is "What is an index" and look it up. This web link will help you and also answers your question about how to "see the content of an index". | I know whars an index but is it possible to query one to find out its content? to actualy look at its content to see if its fragmented for instance? |

| Contents of index = contents of specific columns from table. There's a row in the index for each row in the table, so if you have an index on the column Person, the contents of that index is the contents of the column Person from the table.--Gail ShawSQL Server MVP |
