Hi,
I have a file called name.csv

1-
When I open this file, it does not look formatted nicely...

2-
I also have the name.xls file. When I open it, it gives a message:
"The file you are trying to open, 'file.xls', is in a different format than specified by the file extension. Verify that the file is not corrupted and is from a trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file now?
If I click on No then nothing is opened. If click on Yes, then a nicely formatted excel file is opened.

using the import wizard in sql server I am unable to import any of these two files into a sql server table.

I basically would like to get a dump of the data in the file into a table.
The only way to do this successfully is to change the extension of the file to .txt and then the flatfileconnection can recognize the formats and then I can move it to a destination table in sql server. The wizard uses the default settings i.e delimited, etc...

Question:
How can I get the .xls or .csv to import?

Thanks
