Hi,

I would like to know if pdf documents can be stored in a sql server 2005 express database. If so how do I go about inserting a pdf document in the table and retrieving it later. What should be the column type to store such datatypes?

Thanks

Hello mayoorsubbu,

It is possible to store/retrieve pdf filetypes in/out of SQL Server. There are many articles online which highlight the pros/cons and methods for doing such things.

Store the server name, file path (perhaps unc name) and the file name in SQL Server

Store the pdf's on a file server

The question is: Why do you want to store "Files" in SQL database, rather than on the filesystem?

There are very few good reasons to do that (but there are some ...) but there are lots of reasons NOT to do that.
