| There is an external tool (external to our group but still within the same company) that needs to access some data that is within one of my tables. When I say access, I mean they only need to read the data. They dont have to update any of my tables.I am trying to figure out the best way to handle this. The first thing that comes to mind is, I can create a view with the desired data, create a new user name and password and grant that user name "select" permissions. Then that external tool can use SQL server authentication with the user name and password I just created and read the data.Is this the best way to handle this type of scenario? |
