This may be two separate issues and yet I believe they are connected. I have a windows 2003 domain controller with active directory installed. DNS has been configured appropriately on all client workstations and on the other servers, DNS is pointed at the domain controller with active directory installed. Still none of the client workstations and other servers tested can even see active directory when under my computer> manage > local users and groups> groups. It is the same way for any local group on all servers and client workstations. I have tried demoting the domain controller and reinstalling active directory and have also reinstalled Server 2003 completely. We have other domains on our network that have no issues. I installed the servers on those domains as well. No errors on either the domain controller or client workstations. I can add workstations to the domain in question as well. I can also log on to workstations with any user in active directory as well. When I try to add users to the local groups I am also logged in as the domain admin. Anyone have any idea? I am stumped. This is really hosing out logins for our SQL server as we cannot add the correct domain groups to the allowed logins. Domain admins can login but that's it. I used manage to try to put the domain groups into local groups but that has not worked either. I am assuming this is because active directory cannot be accessed by other machines.Very Respectfully,Marke |
