| Hi, I'm a complete n00b who has a SQL-file. I need to get the information from the SQL-file into something I can read and understand. Where do I start, or should I just give up and hire someone to convert it for me? |

Without seeing the file, my bet is to hire someone to do the job for you. N 56°04'39.26"E 12°55'05.63" |

First of all, do you know what file is that ? Is it a backup of a database ? Is it from Microsoft SQL Server ? KH
Time is always against us
|

| It's a backup of a database. The file is a .sql, but I don't know if it's from Microsoft SQL Server. Thanks alot for replies. I was hoping there was an easy converter programme. But I've googled my fingers sore without finding anything. ;) |

| .sql is not a backup of a database. It might be a script of a database or any other piece of SQL code at all. It might be Oracle, it might be MySQL, etc.--Gail ShawSQL Server MVP |

| Okay, but is it possible to organize the content of the .sql file in a table of some sort?Is this easy, or should I get someone to do this for me? |

| Depends what's in there. It will probably be scripts of tables, views, procedures and other objects and insert statements for the data. Probably. However it will only run successfully if applied against the correct database engine. If that's a script from a MySQL database it won't run against an Oracle server, etc--Gail ShawSQL Server MVP |
