tempdb.dbo.sysindexes never finishes

tempdb.dbo.sysindexes never finishes

Hi, the query "select * from tempdb.dbo.sysindexes" runs for days and never finishes. The wait type is: (1x: 4110ms)LCK_M_S

What could be going on?

see if there's another open transaction. run sp_who2 and look for BlkBy column to see blocking

I found about 20 open transactions from about 5 days ago. Killed them all and the query runs fine now.
