VM is trying to dynamically move files? Make sure that's disabled.Do you have enough room to restore the database? |

I confirmed with our VM admin that it was disabled and it was. I have 80GB free to restore too. I am at such a lost on why this is happening. Thanks |

Run RESTORE FILELISTONLY and look at the size column. Make sure there's enough disk space. A 40GB backup doesn't mean 40GB database. |

Basically that's the scene every time you restore the database. The capacity of the database stands on 40GB input and it can be solved when you comply more information to experts. |
