Hi, This is my first post.

Is there a way of creating SQL statements using a Graphical User Interface? If so, where do I go to see this GUI?

do you mean template explore with query syntax stubs where you can replace place holders with actual objects and construct queries?

I was told that there is a GUI where you can visually see tables and joins much as you can when you use MS Access. Since my SQL skills are limited at the moment and we live in a world where everything has to be done pronto, I thought it would make life easier for me to use such a GUI whilst I'm learning to write SQL without it.

I think you are looking for third party graphical query building softwares. You can google and find a lot of them.

I've been told that it's already in SQL server but that it's like an add-in that can be installed!

I think the person who told you this could be the best person to tell you which tool it was.

I have a feeling that he could have been talking about Business Intelligence Development Studio(BIDS). This is used for ETL(Extract, Transform & Load) Tasks and creates SQL Server Integration Services(SSIS) packages.
It graphically shows the tables being used while the packages are being created and executed.
