While it's possible that you need a patch only available through Microsoft support, in the past they have never charged us for a call that resulted in us needing a patch that wasn't generally available. I've never heard of a patch needing to be purchased.

Cheers

As far as I am aware you get a refund from your support call if the problem is classed as a bug. Maybe Chad will confirm that, I'm pretty sure it's true.

If it's a known issue and you really are seeing the reported bug on your server you will be refunded the cost of the support call. They are very good about refunding support costs when it really is there problem.

We don't charge for hotfixes, the only time we would charge for a fix would be if code support is ended for a product, and extended code support is purchased.

So currently, for 7.0 and 2000 any support call that is the result of a bug is refunded.

Thanks guys for all the info .

I will take this up with our management who will arrange for required patch from MS .
From this , it is clear that if its a known bug MS should not charge for this hotfix .

Thanks.

Even if it's not a "Known" bug you will get a refund. If you are the first to discover/report it, and the support team determines it is a bug, you get a refund.
