I have 4 secondary databases taking up 20+ GB on my C: drive. I did not set this instance up and have never used secondary databases. I need that room. Is there any harm in deleting them? Do i have to detach them from somewhere first?

Do you mean secondary log shipping databases?

SQL Server Database Secondary Data File (.ndf) Since i posted this I read that is was done for the purpose splitting up the load on the system's Tempdb. They are TempDev2, 3 & 4. They are 5 GB a piece. Is there any harm in shinking these files back to 1GB? Will they just expand back out?

They will likely just expand back out.

Never shrink tempdb though. If you need the files smaller, restart the SQL Server service. Shrinking tempdb can cause corruption.

Consider segmenting out onto a diferent drive for performance gain - and general manageability
