select * from sys.indexes gives 268
select * from sysindexes gives 438
with a different showplan for each
and all the other objects: that dot

why the difference for these? It is obvious and simple, but you can save me time if I hunt for an answer

What is means to me is the version... 2005 or 2008?

sys.indexes will give you indexes information only, while sysindexes will give you indexes informatin as well as statistics information. That is why, count for sysindexes is always larger than sys.indexes
