Hello to All, I am new to the SQL Server world and would appreciate your help.I'm not sure what license I have. The paper I have been given is a Microsoft Open License Order Confirmation. Under product description:SQLSvrStd 2008 SNGL OLP NLThis is my scenario:I work for a company where I would like to use SQL Server as a primary database which gets its information from an iSeries as400. Users,no more than 20 ever at a time, would access data from the SQL Server via Microsoft Access, Excel, and, or Visual Basic apps that I write, using ODBC connections.I am the only one who would be writing, testing, developing on the machine. The 20 users at a time ever is very generous since actually only 10 people would currently be accessing data through a front end app.Our server would be stored in a 'hardware room' and I would access the server via remote connection. Our network administrator would access the server the same way but only for updates, backups, and maintenance for the server itself.here are my questions:1. Is this license sufficient for what I want to do? If not what license do I need.2. Reading on active/Passive setup, this allows me to setup SQL Server on two servers where if the first server fails, the second one picks up. 3. Would getting a developers license be the best way to have a test/development SQL Server since currently my Production SQL Server would be my test/development server? Again, I would be the only user. Can I restore backups from a production SQL Server to SQL Server developer to see if the backup were successful? thanks for your time. |
