| Hi,We are moving sql instance from physical to vm. We will create cname so that there should not be any connection change on application side. Old instance will taken offline after creating cname. We have some clients they are using our database. They connect to sql server with MS Excel and extract data in their excel sheet.My question is:After creating cname from old server to new, is there any known issues they can face while using excel sheet? We will change server name but instance name will be the same.Any help will be appreciated.Thanks |

| As long as the name matches the DNS lookup should resolve it correctly. If they are connecting via IP address or using an alias for that IP address then it could break. |

CNAME and Excell
