| Denormalizing and archiving don't necessarily have to be associated with one another. Is there any reason you are associating these two together? If you want to denormalize, you would need to examine the schema of the database and decide what kind of denormalization you want to do. For example, if you have a few tables - Students, Teachers, Courses and tables that relate those, how do you want it to be denormalized? Unless there is a specific goal you are trying to achieve, there is no reason to and no point in denormalizing. For archiving, people take backups and delete old data from the production database. Alternatively, you might have an archive database (on a different server) to which you would move the old records from the production table. |
