Hi everyone,

I have the need to migrate an Oracle 11g database to MSSQL 2008 R2. I've learned that a tool called "SQL Server Migration Assistant" exists for this. Will this tool create the database on SQL server if it doesn't exist? I'm under the impression that the database needs to exist first and that the tool moves the data. I'm hoping SSMA will create the database and all objects. I haven't been able to run SSMA and find out for myself because I'm dealing with connectivity issues so I figured I'd ask this question during my down time.

I'm not sure it creates the database, but that's an easy thing to do beforehand. It will create all the objects to be migrated, and you can select the empty database to put them in.
