i have been given user credentials and IP address to create a linked server toi work with a clients server. but could I just login just using ssms as you would with a server on site. |

yep just done it. cheerswhen do you have to insert servername then port number ie servername/2044i have had to do that before |

when the SQL Server is configured to listening on that port instead of the default port noor the remote server may be behind a firewall and that is the port no configured in the firewall for access KH[spoiler]Time is always against us[/spoiler] |
