A former DBA set up a dual node cluster (sqlnode1 and sqlnode2). He created 2 separate instances (instance1 and instance2). I need to add a new instance to this cluster. I have not done it in 2008 as we are mostly 2005 still. Someone was telling me when I am doing the setup I would want to do "Add node to a SQL Server failover cluster", but that doesn't seem right as I am not really adding a node to it. The option for "New SQL Server Failover Cluster installation" has in desc of adding a single node sql failover cluster. The only other option is "Stand alone installation or add features". Not sure which one I need to use. |

If you are adding a new instance, then you need new SQL Server Failover Cluster on the initial node, then Add Node to the other node.-Chad |
