Patrons,in our organsiation,CHECKDB process is not automated due to other constraints as it consumes more time if it done regularly and SQL bosses opposed on regularly. However doing it manually is it really required to do After Hours?what is the necessity in executing CHECKDB on main Production server rather, and why not grab the copy of DB and perform on Testing serverwhat main diffference will arise? If the errors are encountered on DB is it ok to perform REPAIR_REBUILD or REPAIR_ALLOW_DATA_LOSS and what are the precautions apart from taking the good backup? Please clarify? |

one alternative would be:Backup your production databases and restore them to non production environment. Then perform checkdb on non prod db.with this you have two benefits. You will know your backups are good and then your database consistency.REPAIR_ALLOW_DATA_LOSS will loose the data.mohammad.javeed.ahmed@gmail.com |

Thanks for that. But what is the Advantage / Disadvantage on the server where the DB is residing on the same server. |
