Hello!

I have been using SQL Server 2012 for the past few months, and just yesterday, the results of a query that have normally taken up 2 GB of space now take up over 54 GB of space. I do not think I have changed any settings (at least on purpose). Does anyone have a solution to this?

The number of rows has stayed constant (about 2.5 million) and the number of columns has stayed constant (140 columns).

Open to any ideas...

Thanks!

When you say "the results of a query that have normally taken up 2 GB of space now take up over 54 GB of space", do you actually mean the database? If so, you'll want to check what the recovery model is. If it's FULL, are you doing backups? If not, either setup backups or switch the recovery model to SIMPLE. Alternately, if it is a SQL query, can you post the query?

how do you calculate space taken by query result? are you dumping it onto a table?
