To give you an idea. A database administrator builds and maintains custom databases to meet the specific data needs of a company. The job requires certification in one or more kinds of platforms, such as Oracle or Juniper. He must have a good communication skills to determine the multiple purposes that a system will be used for within an office. I do hope this info helps you:) |

If you want to use MySql, then you should probably ask the question on a site that specializes in MySql. SQLTeam.com is for Microsoft SQL Server.Tara KizerSQL Server MVP since 2007http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/ |

Not true. No certifications are required. I've been successful as a DBA the past 15 years without ANY certifications.Tara KizerSQL Server MVP since 2007http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/ |

agreed about the certifications - I don't have any either and neither do most of my coworkers. The majority of the DBAs I've worked with got their start by getting their foot in the door of some sort of sql job. either developer, analyst, entry level dba, etc.Be One with the OptimizerTG |
