Hi everyone,Im having problem connecting to 2008 n 2012.first I had sql2008 then I installed 2012 as named instance.now when Im on 2012 SS management studio and tried to connect 2008 instance ,there I cant see anyother instance except 2012.Then I open another sql 2008 into other management studio window.as I click connect this error occurs."TITLE: Connect to Server------------------------------Cannot connect to (local).------------------------------ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 2)" |

Are both instances running? Look in services.msc on the server box to make sure. Assuming they are running, on the server box, start SQL 2012 SSMS, type (local) as the Server Name and you should be able to connect to the SQL 2008 instance. |

Where is SQL 2012 and SQL 2008 installed? What I meant by "server box" is the computer where you have those installed. |
