Please am now to SQL SERVER, and am now begining my studies at home. After running the setup and all ended succesfully. I tried logging in and i get an error message."A network-related or instance-specific error occured while establishing a connection to SQL SERVER. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL server is configured to allow remote connections. (Provide: Name pipes provider, error 40- could not open a connection to SQL server) (Microsoft SQL server,error:2)"Please can someone assist me on how to rectify this problem, and i would be very greatful.Thanks in advance.HindusonBest Regards. |

Which version of SQL Server did you install? If it is the Express edition, you should try to connect to (local)\SQLExpress. You can find out which version you installed by going to SQL Server configuration manager (SQLServermanagerNN.msc, where NN=10 for 2008, 11 for 2012, 12 for 2014), or to services.msc (i.e., start -> Run -> services.msc). While you are there, verify that the service is running. |

The instance name, as seen in the logs you posted is HINDU. So try connecting to (local)\HINDU. If that does not work, do what I had suggested earlier - i.e., look in the configuration manager or services.msc to see what the name of the service is, and whether it is running. |
