Is there a way good way to find out whether the database is read/write intensive on a shared server in sql2k/win2k
Thanks.

Performance Monitor could tell you this and also SQL Profiler although I still don't know what the values for Reads and Writes mean in SQL Profiler. The values are cumulative, but what do they mean?

The disk counters will give you the information. % Utilization for both Reads and Writes. Check out physical and logical disk counters.
